Vacancy: PMTCT Coordinator
 
Summary:
 
The Movement of Men against AIDS in Kenya (MMAAK), an organization of men infected and affected by HIV and AIDS is implementing Abstinence and being Faithful, HIV Testing and Counseling and PMTCT project in Central Kenya in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) under SAIDIA Program. 
This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
 
Description: MMAAK enhances PMTCT uptake through community mobilization and increasing male involvement. 
The organization is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of PMTCT Coordinator
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates the overall PMTCT and other health related activities implemented in Kerugoya district.
  • Organizes daily PMTCT, HTC and AB activities, including duties of staff and volunteers assigned to the above activities.
  • Organizes, coordinates and supervises community level activities by community staff working with PMTCT clients, their partners, PLHIV support groups and volunteers.
  • Liaises with staff at health facilities providing PMTCT/HTC services to improve male-friendly services
  • Lead M&E of PMTCT, HTC and AB activities in Kerugoya.
  • Facilitates appropriate referral to other health facilities for HIV positive clients, their partners and exposed infants.
  • Provide mentorship and facility CMEs to PMTCT and HTC providers.
  • Strengthen collaboration and linkages between MCH and HIV care and treatment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Nursing/ Registered Clinical Officer.
  • Training in HIVAIDS, Home-based care, HTC, prevention with positives, PMTCT, HIV peer education etc.
  • Experience in treatment and care of persons living with HIV/AIDS,PMTCT, IYCF, and male involvement within the community
  • Experience with community mobilization strategies, including development of IEC materials and facilitation of peer group discussions that influence uptake of health services.
  • Familiar with MOH level 1 service provision and working with community resource persons
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, in English and Kiswahili.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work with and mobilize the community
  • Knowledge of the current PMTCT and HTC national guidelines is MANDATORY.
