Job Summary:

The job holder will be responsible for devising strategy and executing all required actions for setting up and performance managing the Diaspora Banking Services of the Bank. 
This will be a leadership role that will require strategic thinking, market knowledge and  execution capabilities to build up and run the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Manager – Diaspora Banking will report to the General Manager, Marketing & Product Development and will be responsible for:
  • Strategising the positioning, product/service offering range and marketing of the Bank’s Diaspora Banking Services
  • Operationally setting up the product/service offering delivery including tie-ups with external service providers as required
  • Gradually building up the business team
  • Planning and execution of the marketing strategy including devising the communication strategy, setting up distribution arrangements internationally, participation in overseas activations etc.
  • Setting up and managing the Diaspora servicing team
Personal Skills/Attributes:
  • Leadership skills with good interpersonal skills
  • Smart, articulate, intelligent with attractive personality and impeccable communications skills
  • Ability to make decisions
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduate, MBA preferred
  • Exposure to Diaspora Marketing in overseas locations preferable
  • Experience in banking,  product development and management preferred
  • Good  coordination, marketing & communication skills
  • At least 7 years’ experience in  a marketing and servicing  function in a leading Commercial Bank  of which at least 4 years  should be in  managing the Diaspora Banking Services .  
  • Only candidates currently working in a similar function in a Commercial Bank should  apply.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
The Manager – Foreign Exchange Trading reports to the Head of Treasury and is directly responsible for:
  • Undertaking Foreign exchange trading activities in the SPOT and FORWARD market and managing open currency positions in line with internal policies and Central Bank of Kenya regulations.
  • Training upcoming dealers and entrants into the dealing room on foreign exchange trading.
  • Analyzing currency markets and devising trading strategies that generate value to customers and the bank.
  • Relationship management on behalf of the bank with Local and International counterparts.
  • Responsible for delivering the financial target objectives for the respective income streams attributed to the foreign currency trading function.
  • Principal liaison point between Treasury Front office, Risk Middle office and Head of settlements for all Inter-bank foreign exchange transactions, positions and reports.
  • Timely preparation of periodic Management information reports and analysis of trading data.
Personal Skills/Attributes:
 
An articulate person of good Integrity with good spoken and written communication skills able to express themselves clearly and present concise and accurate reports within defined deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A minimum of a University Degree in a Business or Finance related discipline; Possession of the ACI Dealing certificate is a definite advantage.
  • A minimum of 4 years in active treasury environment as a foreign exchange dealer.
  • Excellent MS Excel worksheet computation skills and good knowledge of MS OFFICE suite.
  • A good knowledge of international markets and trading trends plus ability to analyse local and global economic trends
  • The environment is a modern dealing room set up equipped with Real time trading consoles that access global markets and a risk management system and the optimal management of these systems requires an experienced hands on person with requisite skills.
  • In addition to Foreign exchange trading skills, an operational understanding of SWIFT is necessary.

Job Description

Job Purpose:
The ERM Risk Officer will report directly into the ERM East Africa cluster Head and will be responsible for assisting the Divisional Head conduct the relevant Governance meetings, execution of the Control Framework and the provision of Control Advisory Support.

Job Background / Context: Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a newly formed organization comprised of a few hundred employees globally.  ERM was created to proactively assist the businesses, O&T, and the independent control groups in enhancing the effectiveness of controls and managing operational risks across products, business lines and regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct BRCC (Business Risk, Compliance, and Control Committee) as per governance policy guidelines
  • Identify emerging risks for the  Franchise.
  • Administer the RCSA process until such time as it is replaced with the Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) process.
  • Facilitate the MCAs for the most material entities in the Country.  Oversee the facilitation of the MCAs for all other entities in the region.  Track the MCAs, corrective action plans, and other required follow-up through the Catalyst system.
  • Coordinate the implementation and review of Key Risk Indicators across all businesses and functions as per the regional guidelines.
  • Assist the Cluster Head with the implementation of the Fraud Management Programme in East Africa
  • Conduct Infrastructure Risk Reviews to assess control environments, identify vulnerabilities, develop solutions and oversee implementation of enhancements.
  • Track open issues / corrective action plans and independently validate issue closures.
  • Partner with controls design specialists to oversee implementation of Points of Control standards.
  • Work with Operational Risk Management and business management to remediate inconsistencies as required.
  • Provide specific country insights as required.
  • Partner with relevant business and control groups to ensure their ‘best practices’ conform to country's operating standards and/or regulatory requirements.  Provide input into Compliance Control Matrix in this regard.
  • Coordinate with the cluster / region in providing information on control environment and implement control related initiatives initiated at region and cluster level
  • Monitor changes in the environment, in our strategy and in our operational and technology capabilities proactively and oversee appropriate modifications to the control environment that arise from those changes.
  • Work with ORM to determine and resource key areas that require focus.
  • Assist local management with country Prioritization / re optimisation projects.
  • Travel to the countries on a periodic basis.
Person Specification

  • Familiarity with consumer, corporate and investment banking
  • Strong experience in operational  / product control.
  • Minimum 7 years industry experience with a background in Risk, Compliance or Controls, preferably gained in an international financial institution.

  • Identify emerging risks for the  Franchise.
  • Administer the RCSA process until such time as it is replaced with the Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) process.
  • Facilitate the MCAs for the most material entities in the Country.  Oversee the facilitation of the MCAs for all other entities in the region.  Track the MCAs, corrective action plans, and other required follow-up through the Catalyst system.
  • Coordinate the implementation and review of Key Risk Indicators across all businesses and functions as per the regional guidelines.
  • Assist the Cluster Head with the implementation of the Fraud Management Programme in East Africa
  • Conduct Infrastructure Risk Reviews to assess control environments, identify vulnerabilities, develop solutions and oversee implementation of enhancements.
  • Track open issues / corrective action plans and independently validate issue closures.
  • Partner with controls design specialists to oversee implementation of Points of Control standards.
  • Work with Operational Risk Management and business management to remediate inconsistencies as required.
  • Provide specific country insights as required.
  • Partner with relevant business and control groups to ensure their ‘best practices’ conform to country's operating standards and/or regulatory requirements.  Provide input into Compliance Control Matrix in this regard.
  • Coordinate with the cluster / region in providing information on control environment and implement control related initiatives initiated at region and cluster level
  • Monitor changes in the environment, in our strategy and in our operational and technology capabilities proactively and oversee appropriate modifications to the control environment that arise from those changes.
  • Work with ORM to determine and resource key areas that require focus.
  • Assist local management with country Prioritization / re optimisation projects.
  • Travel to the countries on a periodic basis.
Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience:
  • Familiarity with consumer, corporate and investment banking

  • Minimum 7 years industry experience with a background in Risk, Compliance or Controls, preferably gained in an international financial institution.

The Privatization Commission is a body Corporate established under the Privatization Act, which was enacted by Parliament in 2005 to provide for the privatization of public assets and operations including State Corporations.

A. For appointment as a member of the board of the privatization commission, a person should:
