Farm Machine Driver Job Vacancy in Ndaragua Kenya

Our client, a reputable company in the hay production business with over 12,000 membership from small scale farmers and more than a 1,000 acres of plantation field is looking to fill the position of a Farm Machine Driver who will report to the Farm Manager.
Salary: KShs. 15,000 – 20,000
 
Job Purpose/Summary:
 
The Farm Machine Driver shall be responsible driving farm machines, undertaking maintenance of farm machines and cleaning and servicing of all farm machines for the Farm. 
The farm machines will include tractors, combine harvesters among others.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive the assigned farm machines(s), ensuring the safety of all staff and self/or authorized passengers.
  • Ensure that the machine(s) is equipped with first aid kit. Check expiry date for consumables in the kit and seek replacement as appropriate.
  • Ensure the machine(s) are clean and in good working order.
  • Perform minor routine machine(s) repairs and servicing.
  • Make deliveries to authorized destinations.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confident
Required Qualifications
  • KCSE with minimum grade C+.
  • Valid driver’s licence with minimum class BCE with at least 2 years continuous driving experience.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in driving farm machines

Overall Objective of the Position
  • To ensure the overall safety of passenger, vehicle and any luggage aboard.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure that the assigned vehicle is kept in good condition
  • To ensure that good driving practice is observed at all times to maintain the condition of the vehicle.

I. purpose:  
The aim of this position is to provide logistical support to the Administration Department in the Central and East Africa Regional office. The Driver should comply with the CBM Vehicle Policy which will give guidelines in dealing with vehicles and documentation required.

II. Structure of Authority:

The incumbent will under the direct supervision of the Administration Assistant and overall supervision of the Administration Manager.

III. Core Responsibilities:
  • Drives staff members and official visitors for project-related trips, activities and assignments as requested; Facilitate the transfer of project visitors to/from their respective hotels to the office as well as airport transfers upon request; 
  • Collects and delivers mail or documents when required; 
  • To maintain an up-date record of the log book (mileage, destinations, times & passengers, maintenance) for each trip in the book provided; 
  • Uses his/her own initiative through security awareness of the operational area to avoid attacks on passengers; 
  • Acts as interpreter when carrying passengers who do not understand the local languages and whenever required;
  •  Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean; 
  • Ensures that vehicle assigned is serviced and properly checked before undertaking a long drive; 
  • To uphold and abide by the Vehicle policy and local traffic rules and standards; 
  • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident; 
  • To ensure that no unauthorized passengers are carried in the vehicle at any time without the required and approved authorization; 
  • To present proper receipts on any expenditure incurred on their vehicle to the Officer in charge; 
  • To submit a written report if any damage is done or noticed on the vehicle; 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
v. Additional / Stretch Duties:

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in Section IV above, the incumbent will upon instruction by his / her superior (s), perform ad hoc activities which are either by their nature related to his / her normal duties or evolve from operational requirements.

vi. qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education; 
  • Valid Driving License; Basic mechanical skills certificate; 
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations; Minimum of 5 years driving experience in Nairobi, various counties in Kenya and safe driving record; Certificate of Good conduct from the police; 
  • Previous working experience in an INGO environment is an added advantage.
v. Competencies and Skills:
  • Good written and spoken English; 
  • Effective communication skills; 
  • Basic skills in office operating systems preferred;

Functions / Key Results Expected
Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by

b) delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and

c) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle by ensuring accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
Qualifications
Secondary Education. Valid Driver’s license. Certificate of Good Conduct.
Experience
3 years’ work experience as a driver;
safe driving record;
knowledge of driving rules and regulations and
skills in minor vehicle repair.

dTS PA to the COP / Receptionist and Drivers Jobs in Kenya

Development & Training Services Inc (dTS) is implementing the Kenya Performance, Analysis, Communication and Evaluation, (Kenya PACE) project providing a range of monitoring, evaluation, assessment, verification, reporting and performance management services in support of USAID / Kenya’s project portfolio.

Position Title: Personal Assistant to the COP / Receptionist

Reporting to: COP/Finance and Administration Manager

Job location: Nairobi, Kenya

Duration of contract: 12 months with possibility of extension

Summary of Activities

The Personal Assistant/Receptionist will act as the COP’s first point of contact with clients, consultants and other interested stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

Maintain the COP’s calendar and ensure to update the diary on a daily basis.
Assist in arranging travel including reservations for hotel accommodation,ticketing and accounting for advances.
Assists in the planning and preparation of meetings, project events, conferences and conference telephone calls, including gathering documentation, research and coordination of participants.
Prepare tracking tools for project activities; evaluations and workshops.
Track pending actions and remind the COP and other staff.
Manage all internal and external correspondence.
Follow up communication within PACE Project and external communication with partners and take minutes of meetings and ensure follow up of action points from meetings.
Receive visitors and enquiries at the Reception and direct them appropriately.
Answer all incoming calls and handle caller’s inquiries whenever possible.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Social Sciences from an accredited university
Fluent English and Kiswahili required
3-5 year’s experience supporting executive leadership
Readiness to travel to various meetings and project activities
Adherence to professional attire and demeanor

Position Title: Driver

3 Positions

Reporting to: Finance and Administration Manager

Job location: Nairobi with frequent field travels

Duration of contract: 12 months with possibility of extension

Main responsibilities

Operates project vehicles to assure safe transportation of clients to and from various destinations.
Maintains a vehicle log book including time at each stop, purpose of trip, number of passengers per day, mileage, and vehicle maintenance;
Exercises independent judgment in handling unusual situations arising with traffic patterns and passengers;
Assumes responsibility for care and maintenance of project vehicles;
Performs photocopying and other office tasks as required, assists with payments to statutory bodies like KRA, NSSF, NHIF and assist with purchase of office consumables (kitchen supplies and stationery), among other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Position requirements

At least 5 year’s work experience as a driver, preferably with non-governmental organizations.
Experience with a USAID funded project will be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of and experience as a driver in Kenya
Knowledgeable and able to operate office equipment e.g. photocopier, digital camera, video recorder and maintain files
Possess basic vehicle mechanics
